Civil War

Today’s Scripture
“In those days… the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes” (Judges 21:25).

Abe Lincoln once said, “a nation divided against itself cannot stand.” He probably took it from Mark 3:25. Today we read about Israel’s infighting. The tribes are coming against the tribe of Benjamin in an all-out civil war because of evil that had been committed by men of that tribe.

As we conclude the book of Judges today, one cannot help but feel sorry for the condition of Israel at this point. So like our lives, when we too turn away from God and stop obeying His statues, we find ourselves in a place undesirable and outside of God’s blessing. There really is no better place to live than the center of God’s will.
