Today’s Scripture
“Yet, you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority” (Psalm 8:5-6).

 

 
Psalm 8 is a Messianic Psalm, referring to Adam’s inability to steward the earth and Jesus’ great ability to take it back from the devil and restore it into the hands of “men.”

 
When Adam and Eve sinned, they fell from great heights. Designed to fellowship with God in close and intimate communion, they were deceived into mistrusting God and sin was a result. They lost their authority to rule over the earth and became slaves to sin and death. Jesus changed all that. By living a sinless life and willingly giving His life as a sacrifice, He won back the keys to the earth, taking back what the devil had stolen. Today, we live only partially in that reality and await in hopeful expectation of Jesus’ Second Coming, when He will most fully restore dominion of the earth and fellowship with God on earth the way it was intended.
