Today’s Scripture
“Then the glory of the Lord went up from the city and stopped above the mountain to the east” (Ezekiel 11:23).

 

 
The Temple had been polluted heavily with idolatry to the point that God’s Spirit could no longer dwell there. He arises from the Holy of Hollies and proceeds out to the courtyard, and to the door of the Temple, out the east gate, traveling across the Kidron Valley to the Mount of Olives. How sad for God to leave his earthly dwelling place among His people!

 
The route the Father took in leaving the Temple will be retraced backwards by the Second Person of the Trinity, Jesus, when He returns at His Second Coming and re-enters the Temple (a third Temple yet to be built – perhaps in our lifetime!)
