Today’s Scripture
“As the war between the house of Saul and the house of David went on, Abner became a powerful leader among those loyal to Saul” (2 Samuel 3:6).

 

 
War ensues between the house of David and the house of Saul. Abner made Ishbosheth king over the tribes after Saul, which was to his advantage, deliberately going against God’s Word spoken through Samuel many years before.

 
God made it clear David was to rule over all Israel, yet, some wanted to divide up the kingdom. We sometimes do the same thing when we let God reign in only parts of our heart, resulting in conflict and sorrow.
