The Purpose of Proverbs

May 27, 2017 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just and fair” (Proverbs 1:2-3).

Solomon wrote over 3,000 proverbs, but the Holy Spirit guided the hands of persons to keep and preserve only a few hundred of them. Today, we have many proverbs preserved for us, to teach us to live well.

One of the many pieces of advice given to us in today’s Scripture is to “guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Are you careful to read only the things God would want you to read, to watch only the things pleasing to God and to listen only to those things that give God glory? Guard your heart, for it is your life.
