A Source of Security

Aug 23, 2014 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“I will defile my Temple, the source of your security and pride, the place your heart delights in” (Ezekiel).

The destruction of the Temple was such a devastating catastrophe to the Jews that it was shocking to them. They had forgotten that the blessings associated with the promised land were dependent on the fidelity of their lives.

Ezekiel was proved a true prophet today. All he said would come true, did come true. His wife dies suddenly on the very day Babylon invades Jerusalem, which symbolized the destruction of the Temple back at home and the tragedy that it was. The people felt absolutely secure in the safety of Jerusalem, yet it did not prove true. Does our source of security come from the things we have, or does it hope in the One from whom they’ve been given?
