Giving Joyful Offerings

Feb 16, 2018 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“Present a grain offering from the first portion of your harvest” (Leviticus 2:14).

The burnt, grain and peace offerings were “freewill offerings” in which the people willingly brought what they had to the Tabernacle for sacrifice. Each offering had a different requirement set down by God in order to represent a different aspect of the gospel in its own way.

If you were to take an “offering inventory” of your own life, what would you find? Are you more likely to share what you have or keep most of what you have to yourselves? (Peace offerings were to be eaten with others). Are you living life differently from those around you so others can’t help but take notice? (Grain offerings were always to be seasoned with salt). Do you give give sacrificially or just out of your surplus? (Burnt offerings were choice animals, which could otherwise have been eaten by the giver).

The most important thing about giving offerings to the Lord is to give the best of what you have, willingly out of a joyful heart. Give freely as the Lord has given freely to you.
