Four Sources of Joy

Jan 26, 2015 / Bible Study / 2 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“God’s friendship is felt in my home” (Job 29:4).

Job gives us a model for the source of true joy in our lives:

Everyone has times of trouble, yet when we take our eyes off ourselves and focus on someone else’s need, it’s amazing how much better we feel! Joy is experienced as we shift from self to service, pouring out our lives into the lives of others.

Paul tells us it is an honor to share in the fellowship of Christ’s sufferings (Phil 3:10). What new thing is God doing in your life and how are you cooperating with Him to do this new thing?

I loved today’s lesson, Shannon! Thank you for the lists and comparisons.

As I read, I realized that wisdom was compared to rubies and also to the fear of the Lord here, in Job, the first book written, and in other books, such as Psalm and Proverbs. So do you think Job was the originator of the comparisons?

Another thought summarized your comparison–Jesus and Job were both accused and suffered unjustly. What a picture of Jesus, delivered long before He was prophesied!

      Hi,
Not exactly sure if Job was the author of those comparisons, but it’s an interesting thought. Don’t you just love finding Jesus in the OT?!
