The First ‘Last Supper’

Oct 29, 2014 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“When the time came, Jesus and the other apostles sat down together at the table. Jesus said, “I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins. For I tell you now that I won’t eat this meal again until its meaning is fulfilled in the kingdom of God” (Luke 22:14-16).

As the Passover nears, Jesus and His disciples head to Jerusalem and prepare to enjoy the Passover meal together. During this meal, Jesus coverts the Jewish Seder meal into the act of communion, a new ordinance for the church as a remembrance of his sacrificial death and coming return.

To Christians, the sacrament of the Last Supper is quite sacred. Some churches offer it on various schedules. When you partake of communion at your local church, how much preparation do you put into the taking of communion prior to going to church?
