A Fire That Never Goes Out

Feb 17, 2018 / Bible Study / 1 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must never go out.” (Leviticus 6:12).

The sin and guilt offerings represent two aspects of Christ’s death on the cross for sinners. Through the sin offering we learn that we do violate God’s law and come against our neighbor. (Notice the sin offering was to be burned outside the camp. Jesus, our perfect sin offering, was crucified outside the city gates). Through the guilt offering, we come to understand sin as a debt that must be paid.

These Old Testament offerings have meaning for us today. In studying the order in which they are given, we realize God’s point of view as Savior in contrast with our point of view as sinner. Which of the five offerings (burnt, grain, peace, sin and guilt) are most special to you and why? Please share a comment about this on the blog today.
