He Controls My Destiny

Jan 25, 2015 / Bible Study / 1 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“He controls my destiny” (Job 23:14).

Job’s “friends” have a worldview of God that is based in fear. Notice some of the simple terms they use to describe God: powerful, dreadful, enforcer (Job 25:2). Yet, the God we know and serve is a God of mercy, compassion and grace. Psalm 18:19 reminds us that “He leads us to a place of safety because He delights in us.” God is not distant; He is an ever-present help in times of trouble (Ps 46:1). The friends will ultimately be corrected by God Himself (Job chapter 42) for speaking incorrect things about Him, but for now we can only wonder how their worldview must be shaping their perception of God.

Trust in the Lord and His sovereignty over your life, and know that He is working all things for your good (Rom 28:8). The walk of the faithful requires patience and trust.

Thank you for another great reminder today: “The highest reward for a faithful life is not what you get, but what you become.” Powerful!
