Today’s Scripture
“Then he (Jehoahaz) was deposed by the king of Egypt, who demanded that Judah pay 7,500 pounds of silver and 75 pounds of gold as tribute. The king of Egypt then installed Eliakim, the brother of Jehoahaz, as the next king of Judah and Jerusalem” (2 Chronicles 36:3-4).

Because the land had not been allowed to enjoy its Sabbath rest for some 490 years (2 Chronicles 36:20-21), God exiled the people to ensure the land got its rest (so it would not be cultivated) for the 70 Sabbath years is was owed. How careful are you on the Sabbath to ensure everyone and everything within your household enjoys a day of rest?
