Today’s Scripture
“I would love to treat you as my own children!… I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father'” (Jeremiah 3:19).

 

 
In the book of Jeremiah we see charges made against Israel for their unfaithfulness to the Lord their God. We also understand that during this time there was much political tension in the East, with nations falling and rising at the Lord’s hand. Judah is about to fall at the hand of one of these nations. Yet, in the midst of what appears to be anger, we see God sharing His emotions of the tenderest sort. Today, we see a glimpse into our God and the mystery of His duality – how He is benevolent and just.

 
From the bottom of His heart, the Lord desires to make you his very own child. In fact, He says this in His own words and adds, “I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father.’
