Today’s Scripture
“I anoint you king over the Lord’s people, Israel. You are to destroy the family of Ahab, your master. In this way, I will avenge the murder of my prophets and all the Lords’ servants who were killed by Jezebel” (2 Kings 9:7).

 

 
We have been reading about Ahab and his queen, Jezebel, for a while now. Ahab is long gone, but his queen gets her comeuppance today. She, who caused the death of so many, dies a wretched death in the same plot of land that had been Naboth’s vineyard.

 
God told Jehu to fulfill prophecy spoken of many years before by Elijah in the destorying of Ahab’s family. Jehu did not only this, but outside of God’s will, he took it a step further. When God speaks to us, do we act? Do we do just as He commands, or are we tempted to go a step beyond?
