A Broken Heart

Jun 25, 2016 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“She is no longer my wife, and I am no longer her husband” (Hosea 2:2).

Hosea’s name means salvation and through his message we see God as a heart-broken groom. Even though Israel has been unfaithful and judgment is coming, God will restore them eventually. This theme is repeated throughout Scripture. Can we take the book of Hosea as literal? Yes, God has called his prophets to do many unusual things in order to paint “life pictures” for understanding.

In this wonderful book of Hosea, a minor prophet, God presents the charges against Israel. She has been unfaithful. Yet, God does not want divorce, rather He seeks reconciliation. They have refused to put him first, forsaking Him for the things of the culture. His heart is broken.
